Video Conferencing

Reduce travelling time costs with video calls
that are as easy as sending an email.

Video conferencing is not new. The previous technology just was not sophisticated enough to provide an adequate substitute for a face to face meeting. But things have changed and the technology has improved to enable a meeting to be as natural as possible whether in the boardroom or a one to one meeting.

Sony Video Conferencing Features

There are two basic types of videoconferencing system, each one offering its own benefits to suit a range of visual communications needs - from individual executives working in their own office to larger meetings in a boardroom or auditorium.

Personal desktop systems integrate voice, video and data sharing functions into an "all-in-one" desktop unit. There is a built-in video camera and the screen can double as a PC monitor. This compact solution makes a personal desktop system ideal for use in an office or at home.

Group systems are ideal for use in larger meeting rooms and boardrooms. Cameras, microphones and screens are connected to the central control unit, allowing the system to be configured to suit the room layout and the number of delegates. Larger group systems can offer support simultaneous multi-point conferencing between sites, high-quality wideband audio, data sharing via connected PC and connection of a second camera to provide an additional point of view in the conference room.

Memory Stick functions All Sony videoconferencing systems offer support for Memory Stick removable media, although exact capabilities vary by system.

  • Recording your meetings: Memory Stick recording function allows you to record your videoconference onto a Memory Stick. This will enable colleagues who could not participate in the videoconference to play-back what was discussed in the meeting.
  • Phone Book: Individual users phone books can be stored on Memory Stick media, that will automatically activate the private phone book, making the user's personal contacts available and eliminating the need to manually re-enter contact information to place a call.
  • Sharing Data: Memory Stick media can be used to store captured images, PC-generated data, digital whiteboard drawings and other data created during a conference.
  • Billing/Administration: Call log files can be stored on a memory stick for billing and analysis purposes. This enables the videoconferencing system to be used by different internal departments yet the billing and usage to be monitored and controlled by central facilities or IT departments.

Optional Features

  • Dual Streaming Dual streaming allows the video to be captured and transmitted simultaneously from two sources so that images can be viewed on two separate monitors or as a 'split' display on a single monitor. This feature could be used to provide coverage of different areas inlarge conference rooms, or for capturing a specific area of interest like close-ups of a surgical procedure during a medical lecture.
  • Intelligent Tracking Camera Intelligent Tracking Camera uses a combination of voice directional detection, face recognition and moving object recognition technologies to enhance the quality of videoconferences. The camera can function in three operational modes. In Speaker Tracking mode it will change position to follow the participant who is speaking at that moment. In Next Face Centring mode it can select the next person sitting adjacent to the speaker at the touch of a button. In Presenter mode it can "follow" an active speaker, even if they are moving around the room.
