Unified Communications

Unified Communication applications provide productivity
and efficiency benefits to how individuals and groups
of people respond and work with each other.

Users can respond to any messages, (voicemail, text and e-mail) and react to real-time contacts (phone calls, instant messaging, video conferencing etc) from a single interface and they are able to seamlessly swap between communication applications. For example a user can switch from a mobile phone to desk phone or click to call the sender of an e-mail.

Unified Communication solutions should work irrespective of device or location whilst providing common access to centralised directories and applications.

Siemens Unified Communication Solutions

Siemens Unified Communications is implemented by using the OpenScape solution.

OpenScape is based upon open standards which enables interoperability with existing infrastructure and ensure that you are not locked into a single vendor or service provider in the future.

The flexible architecture means that you can choose the devices, clients and user experience that make the most sense for your business and choose how and when to deploy them.

The OpenScape Unified Communications portfolio is suitable for companies of more than 1000 employees.

It is made up of a number of software applications including:

  • OpenScape Voice - a software based telephony platform using SIP.
  • OpenScape UC Application - software for uniting disparate communication systems including, voice, video, messaging (email etc) and collaboration.

OpenScape unites these service elements, providing presence information across all of them.

Siemens is able to deliver integration with Microsoft applications e.g. OCS, Messenger, Outlook and additionally with other leading solutions e.g. IBM Sametime, WebEX.

Mitel Unified Communication Solutions

You probably have several components of Unified Communications in place right now, for example email and voice mail, but they do not talk to one another.

You may already be using a 'pay as you go' conferencing service that is separate from your phone system. If so, you could benefit from Unified Communications. The migration to unified communications can be done over time, at your own pace, without disrupting or replacing existing infrastructure.

Mitel Unified Communications solutions work with business tools such as IBM Domino/Lotus Notes, Lotus Sametime, Microsoft Exchange/Outlook, Office and OC, whilst integrating the power of voice, e-mail, unified messaging, mobility, presence, conferencing and collaboration.

Features:

  • Single-number access, making it easier for people to reach you whether you are in the office, working remotely or travelling on the other side of the continent.
  • Real-time conferencing and collaboration.
  • Telephones and computers can use 'presence' information on your telephones and computers that can to display staff availability and skill sets at a glance, so customer calls are always routed to the most appropriate person.
  • Incoming calls can be routed according to your presence status. For instance, if you are in a meeting all calls could automatically go to your mailbox, with certain exceptions, such as key customer calls that could ring your mobile phone.
  • Mobile and remote employees can have seamless access to your voice and data applications allowing you to reduce your office costs and give you the option to employ workers with scarce skills, wherever they are located.
